Last minute announcement:
I will be filling in for Victor's Tabula Rasa radio show tomorrow (Monday the 31st at noon-Eastern Time), which will run into my regular Clandestino program. I'm inviting guests to come and hang during any of it. Bring some music too, the styles are open! Around 3:15 I will have members of funky salsa machine Bio Ritmo on the phone for a short interview in anticipation of their upcoming show at the Iron Horse (Thursday night, 10pm, with DJ Bongohead, who I hope will be in the studio with me). I'm still looking to have some ticket giveaways to that concert. But for the rest of the long-ass time slot? How about you coming down with some grooves?

Thanks everyone who listened in to the broadcast last night on commercial radio station WRSI, The River, as I was guest selector with Phil Straub.

We pre-recorded it on Thursday night for Friday broadcast, which happened to run during the hours of our Rumba Psicodélica jam at the People's Pint. Speaking of which, I love all the good dancers and percussionists who came out. The joint was jumpin' and just alive with rhythm. Thanks to DJ partners Mike P, Bongohead and B-COMING.

Here's the Funky Friday rundown. Most of them were selections from their library and I added a few of my own. Phil also selected some of them. We ran "classic soul" from 6-9, with a break for the syndicated "Putumayo World Suck Hour" (did I just type that?). I was happy to be back on the air and with my own car to drive me there! Thanks to Studebaker Hawk and DJ 12XU for the fill-in action last week.

Things are looking pretty dope for the summer with a lot of amazing shows coming up. We're looking at Massachusetts visits by the likes of Tony Allen, Bio Ritmo, Grupo Fantasma, Zozo Afrobeat, Randy Weston (in the fall, actually), not to mention all the fresh local activity.
