I brought some gems to this program with some purpose: I had a great time at the APAP Showcase at DROM and picked up several excellent records. Electric Cowbell and Barbés were represented, as well as the fucking fantastic Afro-Colombian rabble rousers MAKU Sound System. I spent some time with several friends and the fruits of the journey are here.
In addition, Orchestre Poly Rythmo manager Elodie, who was at the show, sadly informed me that saxophonist/leader Mêlomé Clément passed away in late December. So we feature a few from OPR in his memory.
DJ 12XU will be filling in for me next program, as I will be hobnobbing with the stars at Sundanc Film Festival.
