Come out to the People's Pint this Friday night, we'll have DJ Bongohead with us dropping hot tropical vinyl. 10pm, no cover charge.
Cheers! Andujar

Shaolin Afronauts..."Los Angeles"...Quest Under Capricorn...(Freestyle)

Chicago Afrobeat Project..."Jekajo"...v/a-Afrobeat Revival...(Rough Guides)
Taken from the Afrobeat Revival comp put together by Bongohead and myself. Details here

Vis-a-Vis..."Susan Suo"...Obi Agye Me Dofo...(Continental reissue)
Great funky highlife band from Ghana, ca 70s. I first heard them backing K Frimpong some years back and by now have three albums of this afro-goodness.

Kollington Ayinla..."Alhaja Sikira Adunni..."...v/a-Lagos Chop Up...(Honest Jons)
Fuji music, that joyous percussion/vocal improv music from Muslim Nigeria.

Carlos Lamartine..."Ncongo j'Ami" (Batida rmx)...45...(Soundway)
Angolian 70s sounds remixed, as found on the brand new Batida project's 45 on Soundway. This fine label has expanded into contemporary creative dancefloor music from around the globe.

Scorpio..."Ensem...Ensem..."...v/a-Subway Salsa...(Vampisoul)
Another fabulous Vampisoul package! This one is put together by homeboy Bongohead, and tells the story of NYC's Montuno Records, which specialized in afro-latin and Haitian music. This is a very funky jam from Haiti ca early 80s.

Afro Latin Vintage Orchestra..."Dimension 7"...Last Odyssey...(Ubiquity)

Mucca Pazza..."Sexy Bull"...Safety Fifth...(Electric Cowbell)

Ramin Rahimi & Tapesh..."Swing"...Iranian Percussion...(ARC Music)
Heavy metal drummer from Iran gets into other percussion styles on this beautiful disk, including the very funky "Swing".

Horace Heidt Jr Band..."Axel F"...New Heidts...(Magnolia)
Big band version of Harold Faltermeyer's"Axel F" (Beverly Hills Cop). Big thanks to Dino Proserpio for hipping me to this.

Groove Corporation..."Scatter"...Dubplates From The Elephant House vol 2...(Different Drummer)

Kenny Knotts..."Watch How The People Dancing" (dubplate mix)...12"...(Unity)

Leroy Sibbles..."Love & Happiness"...12"...(Micron)

Rob Symeon & Ticklah..."One Way Road"...12"...(Concent)

Hollie Cook & Prince Fatty..."Baby Dub"...In Dub...(Mr Bongo)

Jugoe..."Collie Nation"...The Dubbled Up EP...(Bastard Jazz)

Pere Ubu..."Street Waves"...The Modern Dance...(Rough Trade)

Funkadelic..."Funky Dollar Bill"...Free Your Mind...(Westbound)

The Dicks..."Hate The Police"...45...(1-2-3-4-Go!)
Andujar hates the police too.

A few classics from 70s Turkey...
Bunalim..."Yeter Artik Kadin...Bunalim...(Shadoks reissue)
Ersen..."Kozan Dagi"...Ersen...(Finders Keepers)
Erkin Koray..."Estarabim"...v/a-Turkish Freakout...(Bouzouki Joe)

Atomic Forest..."Locomotive Breath"...Obsession...(Now Again)
Hard rock from 70s India. The album contains many twisted cover versions, as well as the classic stormer "Obsession".

The Black Mirrors..."The World Ends"...v/a-World Ends...(Soundway)
Another awesome comp of 70s African music from Soundway.

Los Jharis..."Regresa"...Los Creadores del Sonido de la Carreterra Central...(Mass Trópicas)
Another killer from Mass Trópicas. This time it is a reissue of some tunes from Peruvian underground cassette tapes by this veteran songwriter/bandleader.

Michi Sarmiento..."Cumbia Raja"...Aqui Los Bravos!...(Soundway)
It was a true joy to witness the Colombian sax legend blowing live as part of the Ondatrópica project when I saw them in NYC a couple weeks back.

KonKoma..."Me-Kyin-Kyin"...KonKoma...(Soundway)

We close with a bit of menacing groove action from the one and only Nick Cave...
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds..."Red Right Hand"...Let Love In...(Elektra)

Thanks for listening!
