Radio Clandestino playlist 7/30

I've been purging through my vinyl collection, selling some things and pulling out some other items I haven't touched in awhile. Many of the tunes on this week's Clandestino playlist are among those forgotten and outgoing gems. Others are slamming new plays. And we can add a few nuggets I traded for at Recordville's record selling house party last Sunday.
You can catch Radio Clandestino with Andujar & friends, every Monday 230-430 pm (ET) broadcasting live from WMUA.

Tony Allen..."Hustler"...Jealousy...(Blues Interactions reissue)

Mandingo Ambassadors..."Fakely"...Tougna...(Engine)
It's great to see a new record from Mamady Kouyate (ex-Bembeya Jazz) & Andy Algire and folks. They were a lot of fun at this year's Yurtfest a month ago.

Konkoma..."Kpanlogo"...Konkoma...(Soundway)

Max B..."Bananaticocó"...12"...(Strut)

Afro Latin Vintage Orchestra..."Last Odyssey"...Last Odyssey...(Ubiquity)

David Liebman..."Dr Faustus"...Sweet Hands...(Horizon)
A funky post-Miles jam from Mr Liebman, a man who hooked me up with some rare Coltrane/Ayler bootlegs back when I was a teenager and a freak about free jazz. This is a funky one from his underrated Horizon album. Here is an edited version, the OG runs much longer.

Shaolin Afronauts..."Los Angeles"...Quest Under Capricorn...(Freestyle)

The Boogoos..."The Journey (Ghana 74)"...12"...(Perfect Toy)

Shokazoba..."Chemical Abuse"...Congress For Sale...(self released)

Whitefield Brothers w/ Edan & Mr Lif..."The Gift"...12"...(Now Again)

Padded Cell..."Profondita"...12"...(Mixed Blood Cuts)

Lifesavas w/ Camp Lo..."Gutterfly"...Gutterfly...(Quannum Projects)

The Overlaps..."Hard Boiled"...v/a-Mo' Cookin'...(Ubiquity)
Early 90s Bay Area funk.

Pretty Purdie..."Soul Drums"...Soul Drums...(Date)
One of the greatest! Check this jam from 68.

Lack of Afro..."Spooky"...45...(Freestyle)
Driving and funky version of the Classics IV jam.

Breakestra..."You Don't Need A Dance!"...12"...(Ubiquity)

Colosseum..."The Kettle"...Those Who Are About To Die Salute You...(ABC/Dunhill)
Another one for our 70s Funk Rock nights.

Fabulous Souls..."Take Me"...12"...(Lamp reissue)

The Vibrations..."Love In Them There Hills"...v/a-Lost Soul vol 1...(Epic)

The Sugarman 3..."Dirty Water"...What The World Needs Now...(Daptone)
Funky version of the Standells' ode my good old friend the Charles River.

Sparkplug..."Whip Whop"...The Music of Melvin Sparks...(self released)
After funky jazz guitar maestro passed away, the members of his trio put together this fun tribute of tunes from Sparks' book. Many thanks to the band for their contribution
