We pay our respects to MCA of the Beastie Boys, who died this past week at 47. I was a teenager as they were evolving from a raw (and lyrically stupid) rap/rock band into the world conscious funk ambassadors that they were at their peak. In short, it's kinda like I grew up with them.

I love this LP. The Beasties may not have been virtuosos on their instruments, but they sure could jam funky. Money Mark and Eric Bobo round out their instrumental band. This LP collects all the instros from Check Your Head and Ill Communication and adds the dubby "Drinkin' Wine".
