Clandestino this Monday: Afro-funkin', Skokazoba, Budos Band ticket giveaways, etc. Tune in!

Staten Island funkateers the Budos Band will rock Northampton's Iron Horse Music Hall on Monday Night, March 29th. The band lays down some heavy funk rhythms with fiery brass, afrobeat boldness, a hint of Mulatu's Ethio-jazz and even some Motown soul influence in an outstanding instrumental showdown for the dancefloor. They have two full-length albums and numerous singles for NYC's Daptone Records. We'll be hearing from each of those records in anticipation of the concert, as well as other jams from the NYC soul scene, including joints from the Dap-Kings, Sharon Jones, Antibalas and others. Not only will we be spinning some Budos tunes on clandestino come Monday, but we will also be giving away some tickets to the show.

The Iron Horse show starts at 830 with DJ Bongohead spinning afrobeat and afro-funk, including selections from our Afrobeat Revival and Afrobeat Revolution compilation CDs. The CDs will be available for sale that night. Get them while they last.

And not only that! But also this week on clandestino we will also have our special guests this week in the studio with us as well...the Valley's #1 afro-funkers Shokazoba will be representing their funky vision of 21st century motherland-inspired music. Group members Wendall and Keith will be joining us to update us on some band activities, including the upcoming LimboFest 2010 (May 1 at Look Park). And we will have ticket giveaways for that as well!

So Afro-funk with us on Monday's edition of radio clandestino, airing live 230-430pm (ET) only at WMUA.org.
