One Love for 2010

In case you haven't seen it, here's a clip of Bob Marley and his group performing "Jammin'" at the One Love Peace Concert. The April 22, 1978 concert signaled a truce between street gangs who had been working for warring political factions in Jamaica, the socialist PNP and right-wing CIA-backed JLP. Some meetings in jail between high level gang reps led to the realization that the politicos were not helping either side.

The concert brought Marley back to the island after fleeing in 1976 after an assassination attempt on his life. This moment brought Prime Minister Michael Manley (PNP) and rival Edward "CIA-ga" Seaga (JLP) on to the stage to shake hands. The only other time these guys got together was at Bob's funeral.

Check it out:

Here's another useful link about the Concert details, including the history and aftermath, as well as full performance line-up.

Peace in 2010!
